Familia demanda al Hospital de Quilpué: paciente salió postrada luego de estar internada por deshidratación

La familia Verdugo Marín interpuso una demanda al Hospital de Quilpué y el Servicio de Salud Viña del Mar-Quillota por una serie de acciones que califican como negligencias en contra de la afectada, Katherine Verdugo, quien ingresó al recinto por un cuadro de deshidratación y terminó postrada, sin posibilidades de caminar. Los hechos, según relatan a comenzaron en enero de 2019, cuando Katherine, de 37 años, quien mantiene un grado de discapacidad mental pero que hasta entonces era autovalente, quedó hospitalizada por 18 días, y según relata su madre, Eliana Marín, no hubo un diagnóstico certero en todo ese tiempo. Por esa razón decidió ir a buscarla y llevarla a casa para continuar allí con sus tratamientos, cuando se percató de que su hija ya no caminaba. «El doctor respondió que la lesión obedecía al hecho de haber estado amarrada mucho tiempo, y que, en nuestro domicilio, podría aplicar masajes; agregó que recibiría visitas periódicas de un kinesiólogo, quien la ayudaría a recuperarse», cuenta Eliana
Ya en casa, Katherine expulsó un tejido, el cual se trataría de «candida albicans», un hongo que provoca la infección conocida como candidiasis, que puede afectar distintas partes del cuerpo. La familia asegura que «estos malestares tienen su causa en los procedimientos médicos mal practicados (…) no se tomaron los exámenes correspondientes, no se proporcionó asistencia médica, se aplicaron tratamientos insuficientes o errados”
